Be patient in the spring, because Asclepias will break dormancy later than other perennials. It is able to grow in various conditions ranging from wet to dry. Notoriously difficult to divide once it is in the ground, because it forms a deep taproot, but easy to grow from seed sown outdoors in the fall or started indoors in the winter.
